Welcome!

The MATH 241: Data Science course curriculum teaches the fundamentals of the Data Science lifecycle utilizing R and R Markdown tools. Throughout the semester, students are presented with a variety of tools and techniques using R on how to wrangle and visualize data.

Data sets are typically organized into a table, where the rows are the observations and the columns are called variables. Elementary variables are often labeled as either numerical (discrete or continuous) or categorical (nominal or ordinal). This course extends from these types of variables into spatial, text, and network data variables. Moreover, students are tasked to apply data science into other academic fields.

The final objective of this course is for students to learn how to use real data to make data stories by exploring, wrangling, visualizing, and summarizing data. Students also provided their basic double-blind peer reviews of their classmate’s work. Below, showcases the students’ final work.
